Join Sarah Korman, cycle coach, artesian jeweler and unbelieve chef for her monthly cycle talks at Drift + Wander in Biddeford, ME. This class will feature sound practitioner, Lauren Aloisio for a shamanic drum ceremony to heal the womb space.
As energetic beings, we crave balance and equilibrium both internally and externally. Sound healing is the practice of immersing in sound with the intention of returning to balance or wholeness. Reiki is an energy healing technique that promotes flow and balance of your energy through gentle touch and intention. This powerful combination will help participants feel relaxed + renewed.
In particular, the drum is an ancient sound healing instrument that can invoke powerful meditative journeys. The drum origins are feminine; It's shaped round like the earth, the moon and our womb space, all feminine and cyclical in nature. The sound is a rhythmic beat, like the first sounds we heard in the womb, the heartbeat of our mothers. Drumming opens the feminine energy of our sacral or womb energy centers, grounding us, cleansing us and helping to destress by releasing endorphins and serotonin. Lauren has had the pleasure to train with her Shaman teacher, Grace "Bear" Walsh over the years to guide shamanic reiki and sound journeys.
"The drum was a woman’s instrument, its shape evocative of the encompassing circle of the earth and womb, the circle of the seasons, the moon and women themselves. The voice of the drum was the voice of the earth, the pulse of life in a mother’s womb and the hidden power of life within the manifest world. To beat the drum was to call the dark mother, the Hag, the hidden source of life within the woman. The beat became the repeating rhythm of life, the moon and the menstrual cycle of womanhood. When the drumming ceased, the natural rhythms still continued." Miranda Gray, Red Moon 2009 (revised edition)
